Geodis Wilson, the global freight management company, is exhibiting at Transport Logistic in Munich (12th – 15th May) for the first time as part of the SNCF Geodis Group. It will use the event to highlight its new Integrated Solutions concept, providing transport solutions for global supply chains

Since November of 2008 the Geodis Group has been wholly owned by French rail giant SNCF. This has greatly enhanced Geodis Wilson’s multimodal capabilities and has broadened the transport manager’s access to all means of transport and potential control of supply chains.

The development completes Geodis Wilson’s strategy of providing fully integrated transport solutions to those employing global supply chains through global standardisation of its Freight-Services, E-Services and Value-added Services. The company continues to strive for consistently high quality and specification levels throughout the world by investing in improved IT infrastructure.

The booth at Transport Logistics, Munich will be located in Hall B5, number 301/402. Here, from the Geodis Wilson perspective, the visitor can learn more of service offerings such as Freight Monitor and Freight Planner, the improved tracking and planning tools, as well as a brand new web-based supply chain portal.

Among the active case-studies that Geodis Wilson will be showcasing at the booth will be examples of the new SCM portal in action as applied to the automotive industries. The pharmaceutical, aviation and maritime logistics sectors will provide working examples of Freight Monitor and Freight Planner.

This will be the first time that the entire SNCF Geodis Group will be promoted at an international trade fair and the visitor will be presented with the opportunity to appreciate its full extent, including all eight of its divisions with a network through 120 countries and employing 50,000 people. The Group’s 2008 turnover reached more than Euros 8 billion, which put it in the top four European transport operators and the top six in the world.

A press conference is being planned for May 13th at 10:30 AM. At this time further detailed information about the Geodis / IBM deal, which was originally announced in December last year, will be presented. This remains the biggest deal in logistics history and the formal integration process is to be completed by May 2009. The press conference will outline the format of the new Geodis division created by the addition of the IBM operation and explain its impact on SNCF Geodis’ service portfolio. A formal invitation will be circulated to the press shortly.
